Garbage Collection Suspended for Tuesday, February 9, 2010
Garbage collection was completed for the majority of Monday's routes. If we were unable to collect on your street, please leave the container out and every effort will be made to come back during the week.
- There will be no garbage collection on Tuesday, February 9 due to road conditions.
Garbage collection will resume on Wednesday morning if road conditions permit. Residents with Tuesday collection are asked to leave containers out for collection later this week. Citizens with Wednesday and Thursday collection should put their containers out on their normal day.
If your garbage is not collected on your normal day, please leave the container on the street for collection later in the week. Every effort will be made to collect on missed streets before the end of the week. Please remember that streets must be plowed down to the pavement and there must be adequate turn around area in order for us to collect on your route.

 Many citizens are unaware that VDOT is responsible for removing snow from Roanoke County's streets and roads. Citizens with concerns are asked to call the VDOT Salem District office at 540-387-5488 for the latest status on snow removal and road maintenance.

Appalachian Power Outage Reporting
To report storm-related power outages to Appalachian Power, call customer service at 1 (800) 956-4237 or use the the AEP online outage report.
Western Virginia Water Authority
To report storm-related water problems to the WVWA, call (540) 853-5700 24 hours a day, or send email info@westernvawater.org.

Fitch Ratings Gives County AA Bond Rating, Stable Outlook
The rating agencies periodically review the bond ratings of all municipalities. Roanoke County was recently reviewed by Fitch Ratings and received affirmation of our AA bond rating with a stable outlook. This is great news for Roanoke County as many other entities are being downgraded during these challenging economic times.
