Business License

The Commissioner of the Revenue assesses Roanoke County Business Professional Occupational License taxes on businesses operating in Roanoke County.  Most of the County license taxes are levied on the basis of gross receipts.  Annual licenses are valid for each calendar year and must be renewed by March 1st of each year.  New businesses must obtain a license within 30 days of the day it begins business in Roanoke County.  Solicitors, Itinerant Merchants, and Peddlers must obtain a Roanoke County License immediately and prominently display this license.  Delinquent taxes must be paid before the business license can be issued.  All individuals, businesses and building contractors doing work in the County must be licensed.  Click on the link below to obtain the application forms to complete prior to coming to our office.
