Assistant County Administrator John Chambliss has been named Acting County Administrator by the Roanoke County Board of Supervisors after the retirement of Emer C. Hodge, Jr. on June 30, 2008.

John Chambliss has served the County of Roanoke since 1973. He began his career in Roanoke County's Finance department where he held the positions of Assistant Finance Officer, Assistant Director of Finance, Director of Finance and Superintendent of Fiscal Management. John Chambliss assumed the role of Assistant County Administrator in 1986.
In addition to his administrative duties, John Chambliss also serves as a board member for the Western Virginia Regional Jail Authority.
