Emergency Communications

Welcome to the Roanoke County ECC. Members of the Roanoke County Emergency Communications Center serve as first responders together with EMS, Fire, and Law Enforcement personnel to save lives, protect property, and stop crime.

  What we are and what we do

The Roanoke County Emergency Communications Center currently employees 32 people split between 5 shifts.  We are located in the Public Safety Building at 5925 Cove Rd in Roanoke.  From this call center we handle all 911 calls, both landline and wireless, for the citizens of Roanoke County.  We also receive numerous calls on our administrative lines which could be for follow up with one of our officers, fire and rescue personnel, or calls for service of a non-emergency nature.   

But being a Communications Officer for Roanoke County is more than call taking.  We are also responsible for keeping records for warrants as well as the warrants themselves.  We also receive all incoming teletypes from not only local agencies but from all around the country.
