Roanoke County's Fire & Rescue Department is committed to providing quality fire and EMS services to the citizens and visitors of Roanoke County, Virginia. We are a combination department with both career and volunteer personnel operating out of 13 stations and one administrative office.

- Volunteer Fire Academy Graduates 16.
Sixteen individuals representing Roanoke County Fire & Rescue have spent more than 20 weeks and 200 hours receiving instruction and practical training in the areas of basic firefighting skills and hazardous material operations. The academy ended with a live-burn at the Roanoke Valley Regional Fire-EMS Training Center where recruits were able to test their practical skills.

Click on the link below to view the Green Ridge Mountain Fire Documentary. This documentary details what fire crews went through in February 2008 as they battled the county's largest brush fire The fire scorched more than 4,000 acres while crews were able to save and protect 64 structures at a value of more than $16.5 million. The department received the Governor's Virginia Fire Service Award for Outstanding Fire Department Response because of our outstanding response to the wildfire including swift enactment of the Statewide Mutual Aid sytem, ability to intergrate multiple system components, and capability to manage interagency interfacing and coperation during a large scale incident.
