Roanoke County Fire & Rescue Department does not offer fire and rescue training to the public.
The Department does offer a variety of public education programs and services to non-profit community groups within Roanoke County. Please contact Public Education Specialist Brian Clingenpeel by e-mail or by calling 777-8718 for more information about any the following programs.
Campus Fire Safety

Character Academy for Kids

Firefighters need your help. Is Your Home Firewise? Reduce the risk to you and your family by becoming Firewise - a program developed by the Virginia Department of Forestry and facilitated by Roanoke County Fire & Rescue. If you would like one of our personnel to assist you in conducting a home assessment, please call our Safety & Education line at 777-8718.
Fireworks Safety
The Roanoke County Fire Marshal's Office would like to remind citizens that Virginia laws prohibit the use of consumer fireworks for private use with the following exceptions: sparklers, fountains, pharaohs, serpents, and caps. It is important to realize that consumer fireworks can also be dangerous, especially to children.

Roanoke County Fire and Rescue offers a new video based curriculum complete with fun activities, games, and stories to teach those under the age of 5 about fire safety.
