Each household is provided with one specialized container, which is easily rolled to the street on collection day. It is the only type of container that can be serviced by the automated truck. The container is assigned to the property address. Please do not take the container with you when you move.

The County will replace stolen or damaged containers and will repair those that are repairable. However, residents must pay for the replacement of any container that is damaged due to their negligence or abuse.
Please do not place hot ashes or charcoal in the can.
Residents whose cans burn must purchase another can.
Your assistance in caring for the container will help reduce our costs of operation, which are funded by a portion of your tax dollars.

Purchasing an Additional Container:
Due to budget constraints, we are unable to sell any containers at this time. We will update the website when we are able to sell containers again. Residents who wish to purchase an additional container may do so by mailing a check or money order made payable to Roanoke County Treasurer for $68.25 and sending the check to:
