How to set up your online access.
There are two ways to set up your online access:
1. On the online registration site, select the My Account tab and click on the Create Account button. Complete the requested information and press submit. You will receive an e-mail that contains your User ID and Family PIN number, and will immediately be able to register for programs. If you have registered before but do not remember your user name or password, please DO NOT CREATE A NEW ACCOUNT. Call us at one of the numbers below to retrieve your information.
2. If you would like to create an account, or you have an existing account, call us at either 540-387-6078 or 540-772-7529 and our Customer Service Representatives can give you the User ID and Family PIN numbers that you will need to register for programs. If you have registered with us or reserved a picnic shelter since 1999, you are already have a User ID and Family PIN set up in our system.

What can I do with the online registration system?
You can search for programs and view program registration information, register for programs, receive confirmation of your paid registration, and view recent registration history information. Searching for programs can be done at any time without special requirements. Registration and account access requires a User ID and Family PIN number.

What is required to use the registration online system?
You must have a valid User ID and Family PIN. To pay for your registration, you will need a Visa, Mastercard, Discover or an existing credit on your account. Any outstanding balances owed on your account must be paid before online registration can be completed.

Anyone who would like to view information or register for Roanoke County Parks, Recreation & Tourism courses may use the online registration system. County residents and non-residents are welcome and encouraged to use the online registration system.

When you use your credit card to register online, rest assured that the transaction is secure. Our servers use 128-bit encryption technology that works with Netscape Navigator (versions 2.0 and above), Microsoft Internet Explorer (version 3.0 and above), AOL (AOL 3.0 and above), Opera (5.0 and above) and other popular web browsers. This technology safeguards your personal information and privacy.

What browser do I need to use the system?
Any of the popular browsers in use today should enable you to use the online registration system. The most recent versions of Internet Explorer, Netscape, AOL, and Opera will provide full functionality. Many older versions will work properly as well. Your browser must be set to accept cookies. Internet Explorer's privacy setting must be set to medium or below for online registration to work.

User IDs and Family PINs -------------------------------------------------------------
What are User IDs and Family PINs?
- A Family PIN is a number that identifies your household.
- A User ID is a 4 to 6 digit number which identifies each individual within a Family.
- To register, you will need both the Family PIN and User ID. You can search for activity and facility information without these numbers.

How do I get a User ID and Family PIN?
Complete an Account Request Form by clicking Account Request Form. Be sure to enter information into all required fields.
If you have registered for a course or if you have rented a facility since 1999, you already have a User ID and Family PIN in our database. Call 540-387-6078 or 540-772-7529 and our staff will assist you with your User ID and Family PIN.

I forgot my User ID and/or Family PIN. How can I retrieve it?
If you have an account with Roanoke County Parks, Recreation & Tourism you may retrieve this either by e-mail or by calling 540-387-6078 or 540-772-7529. If you have a valid e-mail address listed in your account, simply click on "Forgot my Password". The numbers will be automatically sent to the e-mail address listed in your account.

My Account Set-Up & Access -----------------------------------------
How can I set up a new account?
Complete an Account Request Form by selecting the My Account tab, and clicking on the Create Account button. Be sure to enter information into all required fields. Your account information will be forwarded to staff for activation when you click the submit button. Please note, this process may not be immediate - but you should have yoru new account activated within 48 hours. You may also call us at 540-387-6078 or 540-772-7529 to set up your account over the phone.

What email address should I provide to use online registration?
We recommend you use a currently active e-mail address that you view regularly. The email address must be added to your Roanoke County Parks, Recreation & Tourism account.

Can I see if I have credits on my account?
Your account balance will automatically appear in the payment screen during the registration checkout process and any credits you have will automatically be applied against the amount due.

Registration Procedures ----------------------------------------------
How do I register online?
The basic steps to follow are:
- Search for a program you want. Select it by clicking on the course title.
- The details of the program, including updated enrollment, class length and fee will display.
- If you have not already created a "basket" you will be prompted to Login to Register.
- Enter the User ID and Family PIN where prompted. Confirm that YOUR record is displayed or try again as shown on the screen. If the record is yours, click on Continue with Registration.
- Use the Select a Participant dropdown box to indicate WHO in your household is being registered. All family members on record will appear in the dropdown box.
- The button to the right of the registrant's name will say REGISTER if the class is available.
- If you do want to register simply click the ADD button.
- Your "basket" will display with all selections you have made to this point. You can continue choosing additional programs by clicking on the Search & Register link.
- If you have no more selections to make, click the Check Out button from the 'My Basket' page.
- On the Check Out screen, verify your selections, provide the required credit card payment information.
- Click the Complete Registration button to submit your registration and payment request.
- Don't forget to print the confirmation page for your records.

When does registration begin?
We offer four sessions of programs each year. Registration for County Residents begins:
Spring - March 1
Summer - June 1
Fall - September 1
Fall Supplement - November 1
Winter - January 1
In all sessions, registration for County Residents begins on or near the date listed above. Registration fo Non-County Residents begins on the morning of the 3rd day after County registration. For example, if County Residents begin registering on Monday morning, then Non-County Registration will begin on Thursday morning.
Online registration, telephone registrations and walk-in registrations at Recreation Centers begins at 8:00 A.M.

When should I register?
Once registration has opened for the particular session in which the course is offered, you should register as soon as possible to guarantee yourself a space in the course. Courses that are under-enrolled may be cancelled prior to the end registration date at the course supervisor's discretion.

What information do I need to register for a course?
To register online, you need your User ID, your Family PIN, a Visa, MasterCard, Discover, or credit on account and a valid email address for confirmation purposes. Also, the name and date of birth for each person you wish to register must be in your family record.

How can I verify/display what courses my family members are enrolled in?
With a User ID number and Family PIN, you can find this information on the My Account page.

If I do not know the course number, how can I search for the course I want to take?
You do not need to know the course barcode to search for classes. Our online system can be searched by class title, subject or category, participant age, location and/or keyword.

Are there courses that do not offer online registration?
Yes, there are selected courses and special events that are not available for online registration. You can view some of this information and then contact the program supervisor for more information or registration procedures.

Can I register someone from another family?
You cannot. Each online registration session is tied to the one Family PIN with which you logged in. Each household requires its own User ID and Family PIN. Only immediate family members living in the same household should be on your account.

How will I know if a spot becomes available after I have been added to a waitlist?
You will be contacted by our staff if an opening becomes available.

Why is some online information different than what is published in REConnection Magazine?
Our online registration system contains up-to-the-minute program and schedule information, whereas information in Live, Learn and Play was submitted a few months ago for publication. If you notice a difference between the two, the information found online is the most recent and accurate information.

How can I confirm my registration?
You may print your receipt after payment is processed. Receipts from online registrations will not be mailed to your home.

I don't have the camp forms I need. Are they available online?
Camp Roanoke summer camps, our After School for Kids programs, Kids In Camps program, and certain Therapeutic Recreation programs have separate applications that must be completed before registration is finalized. Please contact the recreation staff listed with each course for more information. Many forms are listed on the department's website.

Withdrawals/Transfers/Refunds -------------------------------------
How do I cancel a registration?
Request for withdrawals/transfers must be made by calling either (540) 387-6078 or (540) 772-7529. Please contact the supervising staff of your course listed on the web site. Cancellations cannot be processed via online because certain rules about refunds apply (see the Withdrawal/Refund Policy below).

What is the withdrawal/transfer/refund policy?
- 100% refund/credit/transfer if the Department cancels the program.
- All withdrawal/refund requests received in writing at least 14 or more days in advance of the start date of a program/rental/team placement are entitled to either 100% transfer of fees; or 85% refund/credit based on total cost of program/rental.
- Refund/credit/transfer requests received less than 14 days prior to the start of a program/rental/team placement will not be granted.
- Refunds for medical reasons requested prior to the start of program/rental/team placement will be granted at 100% subject to verification.
- Outdoor facility usage cancelled due to inclement weather may be rescheduled pending space availability.
- A transfer must be requested at the time of withdrawal.
- A credit may be applied to another program within the current session or a future session. A credit may be used by any family member on the same registration account. A credit will be refunded upon request.
