Advertising Rates
Prices are determined by "Base Rate." Frequency discounts are indicated below for agreement to purchase in consecutive issues. Two issues 10% discount, Three issues 15% discount, Four issues 20% discount. All ads are full color.

Rules and Regulations
Roanoke County’s department of Parks, Recreation and Tourism has established the following policies for "REC-Connection", it’s printed program guide. Advertisers and their Agencies must read and agree to comply with the following policies as part of their Advertising Contract. Current Contract holders will be notified in writing of any changes to these policies, rates, and deadlines and will be given the opportunity to cancel remaining commitments in writing if they feel that advertising terms are no longer acceptable.
Submission Format:
Ads must be submitted electronically as either a .pdf, .tif, .eps, or .indd file. Black and white ads must have a minimum resolution of 240 ppi at 100% scale. Color ads should have a minimum resolution of 400ppi at 100% scale and must be submitted in CMYK format. Ads not submitted electronically are subject to a digitization fee of $25. Coupon advertisements are not permissible. Ads submitted electronically by Advertisers or their Agencies are assumed to be approved by the advertiser. Proofs will not be sent.
Advertising Placement:
Advertisements will be placed according to the mechanical and editorial requirements of each issue at the discretion of Roanoke County Parks, Recreation and Tourism. While we will try to place a repeat advertiser’s ad in the same program section each issue, we cannot promise to accommodate such requests in every case. Failure by Roanoke County Parks, Recreation and Tourism to place an ad within a requested section shall not relieve the Advertiser or Agency of the obligation to pay for the advertisement.
Frequency Discount:
Advertisers who contract for one issue per contract period will pay the full base rate. Advertisers who contract for two issues within the contract period will receive a 10% discount on all ads in the contract. Advertisers committing to 3 issues per contract will receive a 15% discount, and advertisers committing to 4 or more issues per contract will receive a 20% discount off the base price.
Rate Changes:
Contract holders will be given reasonable written notice on any increase in rates and will be given the opportunity to cancel contracts without penalty at the time the rate change becomes effective.
Payment:
First time Advertisers are required to pay at the time of the initial order. Other accounts are payable within thirty days of the invoice. Invoices are generally sent within two weeks of publication distribution. Payment may be made by cash, check, Visa, MasterCard, or Discover Card. There is no cash discount. Advertisers and their Agencies are jointly and severally liable for payment of all invoices for advertising published in the Program Guide. Roanoke County Parks, Recreation and Tourism reserves the right to change the payment terms at any time with 30 days written notice to contract holders. If it becomes necessary to turn an account over to a collection agency, the advertiser will be responsible for the account balance plus any interest or fees resulting from the collection action. No refunds will be issued once the magazine has been received by the printer. (Generally 14 days prior to mailing)
Approval and Copy Changes:
All advertising is subject to approval by Roanoke County Parks, Recreation and Tourism. Advertisers and advertising Agencies assume liability for all printed advertising content (text and illustrations) and also assume liability for any resulting claims against Roanoke County resulting from that content. Advertisers assume full responsibility to submit any copy changes in an approved electronic file format by each deadline date. If new copy has not been received by the deadline, your previous ad will be repeated as published in the previous issue.
Disclaimers and Unacceptable Advertising:
The program guide will contain a disclaimer stating the following:
"NOTE: Advertising contained herein does not constitute an endorsement by the Roanoke County, or its staff."
Roanoke County will not accept any political, offensive, pornographic, cigarette/tobacco or alcohol advertising, or sexually suggestive photos in the program guide. All copy and artwork must be approved by Roanoke County prior to printing. The County reserves the right to reject any advertisement. Roanoke County will not publish advertisements that advocate or imply discrimination against any person because of race, religion, national origin, disability or sex.
Cancellations:
Cancellations are not accepted after the closing dates for space reservations. Any cancellation of a contracted advertisement prior to the closing date for space reservations will be charged a cancellation fee equivalent to 10% of remaining ads on the contract. All cancellations must be transacted in writing. Advertisers failing to submit ad copy by the established deadline will be invoiced the full amount of their ad.
