The Roanoke County Board of Zoning Appeals has several roles; the chief one is hearing variance applications relative to the Roanoke County Zoning Ordinance. A variance request is typically made when a property owner feels that the strict application of the Zoning Ordinance will create a unique and undue hardship on how he or she intends to use the property.
