Roanoke County proudly supports the 2010 census. You should receive a form in the mail around March 15, 2010. We can't move forward until you send it back! Census forms are due April 1, 2010.

We're counting on you to help Roanoke County receive its share of $300 billion in federal funds annually for community services such as roads, programs for schools and seniors, and hospital services. There are only 10 questions and it takes about 10 minutes.

Federal dollars to local communities are based on population. The higher a community's population, the more money a locality receives. According to the U.S.Census Bureau, Roanoke County received $292,861,994 in 2008. That's approximately $3,222.97 per Roanoke County resident or $7,593.98 per household.

Look for your Census forms in the mail. The forms should arrive in your mailbox in February or March. When yours arrives, please fill it out and return it promptly, so it doesn't get mixed in with junk mail or tossed with the trash. Be counted in Census 2010. It's easy. It's confidential.
