Surplus Property

Vehicles and Miscellaneous Surplus Items

Roanoke County now sells all of its surplus vehicles and other miscellaneous surplus items through an online auction at PublicSurplus.com (a subsidiary of Webcat) on a rolling basis, as property becomes available. The County will no longer hold vehicles in surplus for an annual sale. To bid on surplus property, you must be a registered PublicSurplus.com buyer.

Register as a buyer

In order to bid, you must be registered as a buyer by following these steps:

Browse to Roanoke County's Public Surplus Home Page
Click on Register.
Proceed with filling out yellow highlighted blanks (name, phone no., address, email, etc.)
Type in a username and password.
Read the user agreement and click on box at bottom of agreement that says "I have read and accept the User Agreement."
Click on Register.
You will receive an email with a code to confirm and activate your buyer account.
Activate the account and you are ready to bid on items listed at Roanoke County's Public Surplus auction site.

From Roanoke County's Public Surplus Home Page you can view current or past auctions by selecting View All Auctions for County of Roanoke.

Browse to Roanoke County's Current Auctions
This defaults to the Current Auctions page where current auction items are listed.
There is also an option on the left for Past Auctions.

Picking Up Surplus Property and Additional Questions

Winning bidders will need to schedule a pick-up time with Ann Mendes, Roanoke County Surplus Property Coordinator via e-mail at amendes@roanokecountyva.gov or by calling either (540) 387-6001 or (540) 355-1243.
