Sheriff Michael G. Winston would like to welcome you to the Roanoke County Sheriff's Office Official Web Page. Since 1838, the Office of the Sheriff has proudly served Roanoke County as the original law enforcement agency. Now, our deputies provide three main areas of service to the community--corrections, court security, and civil process. The Roanoke County Sheriff's Office has 103 sworn and civilian personnel which serves a population of 90,867. Sheriff Winston was appointed to fill the remainder of the former Sheriff's unexpired term. Within this site, you will find many useful and interesting facts about our department.
Our Mission Statement:
It is the mission of the Roanoke County Sheriff's Office to provide societal protection by isolating dangerous offenders from the community, security and order in all Courts of jurisdiction, and effectively process and serve all civil papers and motor vehicle papers, whether of local or out-of-county courts, in a professional manner without prejudice or bias for race, religion, or ethnic orientation.
