It is the purpose of this official Roanoke County website to provide accurate, non-editorial content that will inform, educate, and enlighten Roanoke County citizens, visitors, and businesses about the functions, services, activities, issues, operations and projects of the Roanoke County government. In addition, this website will be used to facilitate, where appropriate, the delivery of direct services provided by the Roanoke County government to its citizens and other customers.
Finding Information: There are five aeas that contain links to help you navigate through the site. From the main home page and along the top of all other pages, there are tabs that link to landing pages containing specific information about Roanoke County. Select the area which most closely corresponds to your current reason for visiting the site.

- Government: Government related services and information
- Departments: An alphabetical list of County departments and other agencies with helpful information
The following links appear at the bottom of all pages throughout the site:
- Home: This will return you to Roanoke County's Home Page. You may also click the Roanoke County emblem in the top left corner of any page to return to Roanoke County's Home Page. In addition, each department will have a home link that will take you to the department's home page.
- Site Info/Help: Brings you back to this section for Site Info and helpful hints.
- Contact Us: Links to all of the Roanoke County department contacts. In addition, each department will have a link that will take you to the department's contact page.
- Forms & Publications: Links of available electronic forms & publications by department. These are also accessible in the forms & publications drop down text boxes located in the left navigation on every departments website.
- Site Map: Text only links and map of complete site
- Privacy: Roanoke County privacy statement and policy
- Questions/Comments: Allows citizens to submit a question, comment, concern or issue using the Citizen Advantage System
- County Calendar/Email Notification: Allows you to browse through events happening throughout the County as well as sign up to be notified by email
- eServices: Consolidated list of online services.
When you are browsing through a department's site, there are additional links on the left of every page. Drop-down text boxes serve as quick links to County departments, popular services and forms and publications if available.

LATEST COUNTY NEWS: We will maintain a "hot links" section on the main home page. This section will contain the most frequently requested links, as well as links to the latest news & happenings at Roanoke County.
ERRORS: If you receive errors on your computer while trying to access our site, please contact our webmaster. Email: webmaster@roanokecountyva.gov or by phone (540) 777-8576. If you are prompted for a password while trying to open documents on our site, and have not been given a password by a County staff member, please press cancel. The document should open normally; if not, please contact the webmaster.
KNOWN ISSUES WITH WINDOWS XP SP2: We have tested our site with Microsofts release of service pack 2 for Windows XP.
While you are on our site, if you see the popup toolbar come up (just under your internet explorer toolbar) click the item "Popup blocked. . ." and choose "Always allow popups from this site). This option will allow you to use our site navigation without being prompted again.
If you can no longer see our Acrobat documents after installilng sp2, try right clicking on the document link and saving the document to your desktop to view it. If this works, you may need to uninstall and reinstall the Adobe Reader for it to be recognized by XPsp2.
