The Roanoke County Administration Center is located at 5204 Bernard Drive off Route 419.

Directions:

From I-581/US 220 take the Franklin Road/Route 419 exit.  Head north on Route 419 toward Tanglewood Mall for approximately one mile.  Immediately following the intersection of Starkey Road and Electric Road/Route 419, move into the left hand lane to turn left onto Bernard Drive.  The Administration Center will be on your right.

If traveling east on Electric Road/Route 419 move into the right hand lane at the intersection of Electric Road and Chaparral.  Bernard Drive is the first right-hand turn past the intersection, and the Administration Center will be on your right.

Board of Supervisors: Sets policies that govern Roanoke County and to provide high quality delivery of services at reasonable costs to the citizens of Roanoke County.

Circuit Court Clerks Office: Responsible for recording deeds and other real estate-related documents, issuing marriage licenses, processing divorces and name changes, handling criminal, probate and estate matters and maintaining court records and other records as provided by law.

Commissioner of the Revenue: Assesses the value of personal property, business personal property and machinery & tools, issues business licenses, and processes State Income tax returns. Also maintains the land books, and administers the Real Estate tax relief for the elderly and disabled, along with the Prepared Food and Beverage Tax collection.

Community Development: Provides engineering, inspection, planning, zoning and GIS services to the citizens of Roanoke County.

County Administrator: Office of the County Administrator.

County Attorney: Responsible for providing legal advice and services to the Board of Supervisors and County staff. This includes drafting and reviewing legal documents, litigation, real estate transactions, and other civil matters.

Economic Development: Designs and implements innovative economic development programs and services that leverage community assets, create wealth and prosperity, and embrace the region's future.

Elections: Oversees all aspects of the electoral process and makes sure that the voting rights of Roanoke County citizens are upheld in accordance to the Code of Virginia.

Emergency Communications Center: Handles all 911 emergency calls, both landline and wireless, for the citizens of Roanoke County and serves as a first responder along with EMS, Fire and Police personnel to save lives, protect property and stop crime.

Finance Department: Records in a proper and timely manner all financial activity, prepares monthly and year-end financial reports, payments to outside vendors, provides assistance to management at all levels of County government, pays all employees, files all payroll related reports and maintains the leave accounting system.

Fire and Rescue: Provides fire and rescue emergency responses, emergency services coordination, fire prevention education, and fire code enforcement for the citizens, businesses, and visitors of Roanoke County.

General District Court: Provides judicial administration over matters before the General District of the 23rd Judicial District. The Court exercises original jurisdiction over all misdemeanor cases and civil matters where less than $15,000.00 is involved. In addition the Court decides traffic cases and certain violations of the County and Town of Vinton codes.

General Services: Responsible for the management of facilities maintenance, solid waste, and the County garage. 

Human Resources: Provides consulting services and programs intended to attract, motivate and retain efficient and productive employees for Roanoke County.   

Juvenile & Domestic Relations Court: Hears all traffic and criminal cases involving juveniles as well as custody, visitation, and child support; hears criminal cases and protective orders involving family or household members. The judge also holds special ceremonies to present juveniles with their permanent driver's licenses issued by the Division of Motor Vehicles.

Juvenile Crimes Program: Provides for services to juveniles who are before the Courts or receiving services through the Court Service Unit. 

Library: Provides the public with books, magazines, CD-ROMs, videos and DVDs, as well as reference research services, wireless access and computers with highspeed internet access and Microsoft Office. Services also include story times for children and various programs for young adults and seniors.

Management and Budget: Provides budgetary and financial information and consultation to administration, departments and citizens in order to enhance decision-making, to educate, and inform in support of the County’s stated priorities.

Parks, Recreation and Tourism: Offers active and passive leisure opportunities for nearly everyone, from youth and adult athletics, to adult leisure programs and special teen programs at Brambleton Recreation Center, to programs for individuals with disabilities, to After School Care for kids, to Camp Roanoke summer camps and adventure programs. In addition, maintains parks, recreation facilities and greenways throughout Roanoke County.

Police: Serves as the Law Enforcement agency for Roanoke County, as well as providing dispatch services for emergency and non-emergency Police, Fire and Rescue calls for service.

Public Information Office: Serves as a liaison between the community and the county's many governmental offices.  

Purchasing: Operates under the Finance Department and is a centralized authority for the acquisition of materials, equipment and services for Roanoke County and Roanoke County Schools.

Real Estate Valuation: Responsible for assessing all real property, tracks progress of new construction, and manages the Land Use Program.

Sheriff's Office: Provides three main areas of service to the community - correctional, court security, and civil process services.

Social Services: Provides financial assistance, emotional support, social services and referral to eligible citizens according to time lines set forth by the Code of Virginia and State Department of Social Services Policies and Procedures.

Treasurer: Responsible for revenue collections and the cash management programs of the County.


Other Sites:

Roanoke County Public Schools:  consists of five high schools, five middle schools, 17 elementary schools and three specialty schools with a student population of approximately 14,000.  Our motto, “Learning for all . . .Whatever it takes”, is a reflection of our belief that all students can and will be successful learners.

Utility Billing and  Utility Department:  On July 1, 2004, the water and wastewater operations of Roanoke City and the County of Roanoke merged to form the Western Virginia Water Authority (WVWA). This merger involved the utility, water, wastewater, utility line service and utility billing divisions.
