Parks Recreation & Tourism Events and Programs

  1. Touch-a-Truck

    July 26, 10:00 AM - 3:00 PM @ Green Hill Park

    We invite you to see, touch, interact with, and climb on hundreds of cool vehicles. Your kids will love exploring fire trucks, helicopters, planes, boats and much more at Green Hill Park. Additional activities include water-spray areas, fireman’s foam, face painting, balloon sculptures, a petting zoo, costumed characters, food vendors and more. Don’t forget to bring your camera!

  2. Summer Sunday Exploration at Explore Park

    July 27, 2:00 PM - 4:00 PM @ Blue Ridge Parkway Visitor Center

    Every Sunday afternoon in June and July, visit the Blue Ridge Parkway Visitor Center between 2:00pm and 4:00pm for educational demonstrations with a local interpreter or National Park Service ranger. Topics will range from frontier history and culture to environmental learning and park wide recreational opportunities.
