Any changes to this schedule will be advertised at least two weeks in advance. The Board meetings are broadcast live on RVTV, Channel 3, and will be rebroadcast following the meeting on Thursday, at 7:00 p.m. and Saturday at 4:00 p.m.

County Calendar

  1. VDOT Public Hearing for Interstate 81 Park and Ride Expansion at Exit 140

    SALEM —The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) will hold a public hearing on the proposed expansion of the Park and Ride facility located off Interstate 81 at exit 140 (Salem) in Roanoke County. The existing Park and Ride lot, which has approximately 112 parking spaces, would be expanded to provide approximately 236 vehicle spaces and nine for motorcycles. Other amenities included in the proposed project are additional lighting, bike racks, handicap parking, sidewalks and a bus shelter. The hearing will be held on Thursday, Oct. 16, from 5 to 7 p.m. at VDOT’s Salem District Office located at 731 Harrison Avenue in Salem. This hearing is being held to provide an opportunity for citizens or organizations to give VDOT input on the proposed project.     The second annual Zombie Run is a fun run for the end of times! Choose to participate as a runner, and see if you can make it past a variety of obstacles to the finish line alive (with a flag still left in your belt). Play as a zombie and you’ll get to dress your undead best and try to stop the runners from making it to the finish line with their humanity intact. Proceeds from this race will benefit the Special Olympics of Virginia. Registration is $35 in advance for individual runners, or $25 in advance for zombies. Team and gate pricing also available.
