Where is the Roanoke County Department of Social Services located?
We are located at 220 East Main Street in Salem, Virginia, on the third floor of the Stellar One Building.

What are your hours of operation?
We are open Monday through Wednesday, and on Friday, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. unless closed in observance of a County Holiday. On Thursday our hours are extended to 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

What programs are offered by the Roanoke County Department of Social Services?
We administer several different Benefits and Social Work Service programs. Learn more about the

Do I contact the Roanoke County Department of Social Services for issues regarding Child Support?
No, in Virginia, child support issues are handled through the Division of Child Support Enforcement
(DCSE).
5.
In which locality should I apply for benefits?
You should apply for social services programs in the locality in which you live and pay personal property taxes.
6.
How do I contact my case worker?
Call our main number, (540) 387-6087, and ask to speak with your case worker or push # to reach our phone directory message to find your worker’s direct extension.
7.
If I move to Roanoke County from another locality, will my benefits transfer?
Yes, with the exception of Child Care. Please contact your current locality and ask that your case be transferred to Roanoke County.
