Roanoke County’s Economic Development enhances the visibility and progressiveness of the County's economic development efforts, programs and services, while promoting the County's marketable industrial and commercial property. The department will not only work as an independent unit but will also use partnerships to achieve results.

Founded in 1946, the Southern Economic Development Council is the oldest and largest regional economic development association in North America, with members in 17 states, including Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Mississippi, Missouri, North Carolina, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, West Virginia, and the District of Columbia.
Since 1982, the Virginia Economic Developers Association has increased the effectiveness of those who practice economic, industrial, and community development in Virginia. The Virginia Economic Developers Association is the voice in Virginia for shaping economic development public policy and a primary source of strong and effective education and networking for economic development professionals.
 Virginia Municipal League  
The Virginia Municipal League is a statewide, nonprofit, nonpartisan association of city, town and county governments established in 1905 to improve and assist local governments through legislative advocacy, research, education and other services. The membership includes all 39 cities in the state, 156 towns and 10 counties.
