On February 9, 2016 the Roanoke County Board of Supervisors received a briefing from Assistant County Administrator Richard Caywood on recent developments in the Mountain Valley Pipeline project.

Roanoke County Pipeline Advisory Committee
On March 10, 2015, the Roanoke County Board of Supervisors appointed a Roanoke County Pipeline Advisory Committee for the purpose of providing key stakeholders to assist the Board of Supervisor in its review of the potential benefits of the pipeline as well as potential impacts to citizens, businesses and natural resources within the County. Learn more about the Roanoke County Pipeline Advisory Committee.

 11-25-2015 Motion of Intervention Filed with FERC. Roanoke County's Motion of Intervention was made with the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) on November 25, 2015, It is anticipated that Roanoke County will receive a separate notification within 30 days or so when FERC accepts our motion of Intervention and officially designates the county as an Intervenor.

 06-19-2015 Statement from the offices of Congress members Goodlatte and Griffith about the FERC denial to extend the public scope process. Goodlatte and Griffith encourage citizens to continue submitting comments to FERC at http://www.ferc.gov/docs-filing/ecomment.asp. Once the draft Environmental Impact Statement is issued, FERC will hold additional meetings to allow individuals with concerns to be heard.

 06-18-2015 FERC Chairman Norman C. Bay's letter in response to Congress members Goodlatte and Griffith's May 1, 2015 request to extend the Mountain Valley Pipeline public scoping process beyond June 16, 2015.

 06-11-2015 On Thursday, June 11, Roanoke County Board of Supervisors Chairman Peters sent a letter to the Montgomery County Board of Supervisors Chairman Brown regarding the impacts a proposed Montgomery County resolution will have on the County of Roanoke and its residents.

On Monday, June 15, the Montgomery County Board of Supervisors will consider a resolution endorsing the Alternate Route 110 and Alternate Route 93, which expands the project footprint in Roanoke County.

 06-16-2015 FERC Scoping Process ends. Public comment period ends.
Comments can be filed before June 16 directly with the FERC about Pre-Filing Activity for Planned Natural Gas Projects (Use Docket PF-15-3) at http://www.ferc.gov/docs-filing/ecomment.asp.

 06-02-2015 On May 22, 2015, Mountain Valley Pipeline filed draft alignment plans with the FERC. Below are links to the MVP cover letter and the plans filed by MVP relating to Roanoke County and adjacent localities of Montgomery and Franklin counties.


In addition, the FERC has published a large, consolidated document showing a draft alignment plan for the entire MVP Pipeline project.

 05-01-2014 Congress members Morgan Griffith and Bob Goodlatte submit a joint letter to the FERC supporting the Board of Supervisors' resolution in requesting a public scope meetting be held in Roanoke County and an extension of the public comment period. Griffith/Goodlatte Letter to the FERC.
