The Criminal Division of the Office of the Clerk of Circuit Court is responsible for creating and maintaining records on all criminal cases heard in Roanoke County Circuit Court.

However, we are prohibited by law from giving legal advice, restating the law or recommending legal action. Questions regarding interpretation of the law should be directed to an attorney licensed in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
Criminal cases are fully searchable in the public records room of the Office of the Clerk of Circuit Court on the second floor of the Roanoke County Courthouse.
The Criminal Division accepts payment for criminal fines by cash, money order, personal & certified check (defendants name/case number needs to be on check), Visa or Mastered (currently not by telephone), at the discretion of the Clerk. We do not accept Debit or Check Cards. There is a 4% convenience fee added to costs when paying by credit cards.
Grand Jury convenes the first Friday of February, April, June, October and December; and the second Friday in August, all at 9:00am.
Effective July 1, 2015, as a result of the passage of House Bill 1506, which amends Virginia Code Section 19.2-354 to require payment plan guidelines be established and publicly posted, its specific language, as transmitted to all Circuit Court Clerks by the Office of the Executive Secretary of the Supreme court, is noted in italics below.
"The Court may authorize the Clerk to establish and approve the conditions of all deferred or installment paymnet agreements, pursuant to guidelines established by the Court, and such guidelines shall be reducted to writing as well as posted in the Clerk's office and on the court's website, if a website is available."
