The Capital Improvement Program (CIP) is a means of planning for the purchase of new and/or replacement assets. Roanoke County defines a capital project as a tangible asset that has a useful life of at least 5 years or a tangible asset that costs at least $100,000.
This can include items such as: major repairs, reconstruction or replacement of capital items such as buildings or equipment, new construction or development, property acquisition, equipment acquisition.
CIP projects must be in compliance with the County’s Comprehensive Plan.
The most recent Capital Improvement Program document details the capital improvement projects submitted to the Board of Supervisors for approval for a five year funding period.
