About the Geographic Information System (GIS)
GIS is a system that manages geographically-
referenced information by integrating a database
and a mapping software. Information is input into
the system in layers and the mapping system shows
various layers chosen by the user.Our GIS system
contains layers for various items including:

• Real estate parcels
• Flood zones
• Magisterial districts
• School boundaries

Scanned Construction Plans
Site plans for most existing construction projects in Roanoke County are digitally scanned and indexed using our scanned construction plan web service. The scanned images can be accessed in TIFF format by project name. Last updated August 2010.
