Peters Creek Hollins Community Plan

This study, as is proposed to be adopted into the Roanoke County Comprehensive Plan, will aid decision-making for future development throughout the Peters Creek/Hollins community of North County. The study area encompasses the majority of the developed portions of North County, bounded by the City of Roanoke, the City of Salem, Botetourt County and Brushy Mountain.

The plan will consist of several elements designed to maximize both resources and citizen participation. The first phase of the process includes an inventory of existing conditions within the community, such as population and housing data derived from Census data, transportation facilities, and natural features. The collected information will help identify the needs of the study area.

The second phase of the process involves the eliciting and incorporation of citizen participation. Means to garner this participation includes community meetings, topical surveys and stakeholder interviews. Information gathered from these means will be utilized in tandem with the existing conditions in the development of goals and implementation strategies. Upon completion of the process, the final document will be compiled and then ultimately presented for approval to both the Planning Commission and Board of Supervisors.
