Training for Our Personnel
Career personnel participate in two days per month of scheduled mandatory training. These courses are designed to enhance or refresh their skills in addition to providing the required classes needed to maintain their certification levels.

Volunteer fire personnel are offered one Volunteer Fire Academy each fiscal year that begins in September and culminates with a graduation ceremony in March. Completion of this academy certifies the individual for Firefighter I, Firefighter II, Hazmat Operations, and Mayday levels of training. Volunteer EMS personnel can obtain initial EMT/B certification through the Western Virginia EMS Council.
