Peters Creek Road/Williamson Road Improvements

Map of the Peters Creek Road/Williamson Road Study area

The Peters Creek Road/Williamson Road Multimodal Safety Improvements Study implements the 2020 Hollins Center Plan. The Office of Intermodal Planning and Investment funded a study conducted by Whitman, Requardt & Associates for the Peters Creek Road and Williamson Road corridors between Wood Haven Road and Plantation Road to identify potential safety and multimodal improvements.

Due to the large scope of the study area at approximately 1.8 miles in length, Roanoke County chose improvements from the study that would be the most impactful, divided the study area into two sections, and applied for each to increase application competitiveness. Due to SMART SCALE requirements, the Roanoke Valley Transportation Planning Organization submitted an application comprising the full scope of the study, which included projects that overlap with the County’s submissions. The following applications were submitted for SMART SCALE funding in August 2024:

Peters Creek Road Multimodal Safety Improvements from Wendover Drive to Dwight Street

The total estimate is $31.9 million.
